If that sounds like you we want you on our team.Indio Crisis Walk-in CenterWEA’s Crisis Walk-In Center (CWIC), located on the behavioral health campus of Riverside University Health System in Indio, CA, offers 24/7 walk-in, voluntary crisis services for adults and children ages 5 and older. Designed to provide immediate, accessible care, the center serves up to 20 patients at a time, including both youth and adults.Position SummaryThe Psychiatric RN plays a key front-line role in triage, clinical assessment, crisis stabilization, and care coordination. This role requires strong clinical judgment, autonomy, and the ability to manage high-acuity behavioral health presentations in a fast-paced setting.RNs may also have the opportunity to serve as charge/shift lead, supporting team coordination, patient flow, and overall clinical operations during assigned shifts.Key ResponsibilitiesTriage & Rapid Assessment: Perform initial triage, complete psychiatric and medical assessments, and prioritize care based on acuity and safety Crisis Stabilization: Implement nursing interventions, monitor patient status, and support rapid stabilization Medication Administration: Administer and monitor medications; assess effectiveness and respond to adverse reactions De-escalation & Safety: Utilize trauma-informed, evidence-based techniques to manage behavioral crises and maintain a safe environment Care Coordination: Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary team to support patient flow and transitions of care Shift Leadership (as assigned): Serve as charge/shift lead, supporting team oversight, workflow coordination, and safe clinical operations Documentation & Compliance: Complete timely, accurate documentation in the EHR in alignment with clinical and regulatory standards RequirementsRequired QualificationsActive California RN license BLS certification Minimum 1 year psychiatric or behavioral health experience Strong assessment, crisis intervention, and de-escalation skills Ability to work independently and within a team in a high-acuity environment Availability for required Sunday shiftsPreferred QualificationsExperience in crisis, ED, or inpatient psych settings PMH-BC or similar certification Familiarity with 5150 processes and co-occurring disorders Bilingual (Spanish preferred) Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe RN Must Be Able ToStand, walk, or sit for extended periods in a behavioral health care settingParticipate in de-escalation and safety interventions (as trained and appropriate)Lift up to 25 pounds and assist with patient movement as neededWork in a fast-paced environment with varying levels of behavioral and emotional intensityMaintain focus and effectiveness during high-pressure situationsWhy Join WEAFlexible per diem scheduling with premium shifts available Opportunity to work in a new, innovative crisis centerCollaborative, multidisciplinary team environment Mission-driven work serving high-need communities
