NOC Engineer II
DescriptionThis NOC Engineer II position is responsible for applying in-depth knowledge of the network and networking protocols, along with excellent communication skills, to troubleshoot all issues that arise. The primary function is to perform escalated network repair, execute tactical projects, and own overall network troubleshooting once alerted by the monitoring tool.Essential Job FunctionsContinuous monitoring and management of the FiberLight network to ensure alarm receipt and processing procedures are followedGenerating and processing tickets for technical support and serviceIdentifying alarms, raising requests, performing diagnostics of the problem, and dispatching as required to the appropriate Carriers or field service techniciansTechnical proficiency with layer 1, 2, and 3 networkingLayer 2 technical proficiency with VLAN Tagging, VLAN encapsulation (Q-in-Q)Layer 3 technical proficiency with BGP, OSPF, and MPLSUpdating and maintaining all database and circuit records.Conducting detailed MOP reviews to ensure minimal customer impact during scheduled maintenanceUnderstanding, applying, and maintaining network standards as documented by Architecture & EngineeringPerforming these responsibilities in a high-pressure, short timeline environment, which includes managing and responding to aggressive customersRequirementsMinimum 3 years of NOC experience requiredTelecommunications (or related field) experience preferredFlexibility to work any shift (days or nights). Shifts typically do not change once establishedOther Skills/AbilitiesUnderstanding of Linear and Ring topologiesUnderstanding of Ethernet and Routed NetworksDWDM experience preferredStrong verbal and written communication skillsGood troubleshooting skills and methodologiesAbility to identify risks/issues and develop recommendations for resolutionAttention to detail with good organizational capabilities
