Safety Manager

With more than 16 years of experience, AMD has established themselves as a leading supplier of fencing, hurricane shutters and aluminum products in Florida and the Southeast USA. AMD is currently looking for a dynamic Safety Manager for the company. The Safety Manager for AMD Supply will be responsible for overseeing all safety and maintenance operations. This role combines hands on technical knowledge to manage the maintenance of equipment and facilities while overseeing the company safety programs and initiatives. The candidate we are looking for will be hands on and actively engaged in daily operations, leading by example and driving safety excellence across the organization. Here's what you will be doing. Conduct regular safety risk audits, risk assessments, and hazard analysis. Will identify potential risks and recommend measures to prevent accidents and injuries. Will develop and conduct safety orientation as part of the employee onboarding process and will provide continued training as required by regulations or as needed to improve safety behavior. Develop, implement and maintain safety policies and procedures specific to the distribution and fabrication industry. Will maintain records of training activities and ensure certifications are up to date. Will investigate workplace accidents, injuries and near misses and provide actions to prevent future injuries. Will track and analyze safety metrics to include TRIR, lost time accidents, regulatory audits and overall performance to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Prepare and present regular safety performance to management. Will work closely with managers, supervisors and employees to promote a culture of safety. Serve as the primary contact for safety-related inquiries and inspections. Stay current on emerging safety and environment trends, regulations, and best practices, and compliance documentation required by regulatory agencies. Plan, schedule, and coordinate all maintenance activities for machinery, tools, and facilities. Will work with the Group HR Manager on all safety activities (metrics, incidents, training etc) Oversee maintenance operations to ensure safe and efficient operating equipment and tools. Lead and supervise maintenance personnel, contractors, and vendors. Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs and reports. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures or system malfunctions quickly and effectively. Will be responsible for issuing purchase orders for replacement parts, tools and safety supplies. Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field or a combination of education and similar work experience. At least 3-5 years in maintenance and safety management, preferably in manufacturing or logistics. Experience designing and delivering training and implementing safety programs. Must have extensive knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FMCSA, and any state or federal regulatory departments that drive safety compliance. Proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of EHS software. Knowledge of CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) Ability to travel 40%-50%. Environmental and Physical Demands: Will have exposure in both an office setting and a manufacturing/Warehouse environment. Routinely visiting different work locations, must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas. Will be exposed to moving mechanical parts and noise. Must be able to pass freely through the warehouse. Frequently sitting, standing or walking. Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing or climbing.
