We are currently providing mentorships to approximately 5000 service members and active duty military spouses across the country. The Government Affairs Associate would join ACP’s team of 70+ staff to work on behalf of a community that has sacrificed so much for our country.The Government Affairs Associate would report directly to the Vice President of Government Affairs and would work closely with other senior leaders to raise awareness of (1) the challenges veterans and spouses face when seeking meaningful civilian employment, and (2) how ACP mentorship is a solution to veteran and spouse underemployment, including advocating for ACP’s priorities with outside stakeholders and policy makers.Responsibilities would include:Maintaining all government affairs trackers and calendarsMaintaining awareness of policy issues relevant to ACP’s missionSupporting the VP of Government Affairs on ACP’s advocacy prioritiesPreparing memos prior to engagements with Congressional Members/staffResearching policy matters as neededExternal engagements, including supporting senior leaders (e.g., meetings with Congressional Members/staff, conferences, outreach events), and sending follow-ups as necessaryMaintaining awareness of key dates in the legislative processOther duties as assignedRequirements:Commitment to ACP’s missionExceptional verbal and written communication skillsDetail-orientedExceptional organizational skillsPotential to work independently and anticipate future needsWillingness to ask questionsAbility to juggle tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environmentTeam playerProven track record of effective relationship building is a plusPrior Hill experience is a plus, but not requiredFeatured benefitsMedical insuranceVision insuranceDental insurancePaid paternity leaveCommuter benefitsPaid maternity leave401(k)On-site amenities
