Safety Specialist

Overview The Field Safety Specialist is responsible for executing safety programs across active jobsites while reinforcing a culture of safety, compliance, and disciplined execution. This role serves as a critical field-level partner to Operations, Project Management, and field leadership, ensuring that work is planned and performed safely, compliantly, and predictably. This position requires a strong field presence and a proactive approach to hazard identification, coaching, and incident prevention, particularly in high-risk crane, rigging, and steel erection environments. Primary Focus Areas Field Safety Execution | Jobsite Inspections and Audits | Hazard Identification and Mitigation | Regulatory Compliance | Incident Prevention | Safety Coaching and Training | Pre-Task Planning Support Key Responsibilities Field Safety ExecutionEnforce company safety policies, procedures, and expectations across assigned jobsitesMaintain a consistent and visible field presence during active operationsReinforce a safety-first culture aligned with company standards Jobsite Inspections and ComplianceConduct routine and project-specific safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessmentsVerify compliance with OSHA, DOT, and applicable construction safety regulationsIdentify unsafe conditions and behaviors and ensure corrective actions are implemented Hazard Identification and MitigationProactively identify risks associated with crane, rigging, and steel erection activitiesPartner with field leadership to implement control measures and eliminate hazardsSupport planning and execution of high-risk work activities Pre-Planning and Operational SupportParticipate in pre-job planning meetings and job hazard analysesReview lift plans and complex work activities from a safety perspectiveSupport development and execution of site-specific safety plans Incident Management and InvestigationAssist with incident, accident, and near-miss investigationsDocument findings, identify root causes, and support corrective action plansTrack corrective actions to completion and communicate lessons learned Training and Safety CommunicationConduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and jobsite briefingsProvide real-time coaching to reinforce safe work practicesServe as a trusted safety resource for field leadership and crews Performance ExpectationsConsistent execution and enforcement of safety programs across all assigned jobsitesTimely identification and mitigation of hazards before escalationAccurate inspections, documentation, and reportingStrong collaboration with Operations and Safety leadershipReduction in preventable incidents through proactive field engagementProfessional field presence aligned with company values RequirementsOSHA 30 required; OSHA 510 preferred.Current First Aid and CPR certification required.Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and construction safety regulations.3+ years of construction safety experience preferred.Experience supporting crane, rigging, or steel erection operations strongly preferred.Strong communication skills with field crews and leadership.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety management systems preferred.Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
