This position plays a crucial role in fostering a positive and productive learning environment, ensuring student success, promoting staff development, and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders. The Principal will primarily focus on student discipline, attendance, curriculum support, student intervention, staff/student enrichment and school safety, contributing to a culture of academic excellence and responsible citizenship.Qualifications:Valid Michigan Administrator Certificate (or eligibility for certification), valid Michigan Teaching CertificateHigh Level of skills in leadership and communicationKnowledge of secondary (9-12) curriculum, assessment, and instructional practicesExperience in student discipline and behavior managementPrior administrative experience is preferredKey Responsibilities & Duties:Experience with these applications, preferred: 5D/Pivot, Skyward, Powerschool, Schoology, Bloomz, Apple (Macbook) products, Google Suite, IXL, AlbertIO, Planboo.edu, Raptor, AdvanceED, Munetrix, Red Rover, ApptegyStudent Management & Discipline:Administer and enforce school rules, policies, and procedures consistently and fairly, as outlined in the student handbook.Conduct investigations into student misconduct, administer appropriate disciplinary actions and ensure due process is followed.Implement and support positive behavior intervention and restorative justice practices.Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and other support staff to address student behavioral and social-emotional needs.Understand and ensure compliance with federal and state special education laws (IDEA) and Section 504.Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as needed to ensure appropriate accommodations and services are provided.Instructional Support:Observe classroom instruction, provide constructive feedback to teachers, and participate in teacher evaluation processesManage teachers, enforce professional expectations, solve issues using Building Committee teamsAnalyze student performance data to identify trends, inform instructional decisions, and support school improvement initiatives.Support the professional growth of teachers and staff through mentorship, coaching, and identifying professional development opportunities.Collaborate with staff to identify student needs and implement effective interventions.Contribute to the design and implementation of professional development for teachers.Assists with MTSS/PBIS implementation process.Address and resolve chronic attendance and truancy issues through collaboration and proactive intervention.Participate as an active member of the School Improvement CommitteeLeadership and Planning:Assist in developing and implementing school-wide goals, policies, and initiatives.Actively shares in the school's decision-making and school improvement processes.Contribute to planning for school events, staff needs, and operational logistics to ensure smooth functioning. Actively participate in academic, athletic, and co-curricular events to support and advocate for students.Contribute to scheduling, staff assignments, and other school operational activities.Assists in the selection, interviewing, and recommendation of hire for new staff.Supervision:Assist in the day-to-day operations of the school, including scheduling, facility management, and emergency preparedness.Ensure a safe, secure, and orderly school environment for all students and staff.Oversee student supervision during non-instructional times (e.g., hallways, lunch, assemblies, extracurricular events).Communication & Community Engagement:Maintain effective communication with students, parents, staff, and community members to ensure a cohesive and supportive environment.Address parent concerns and inquiries with professionalism and a problem-solving approach.Represent the school at various meetings, events, and community functions as assigned by the Principal.Foster positive relationships with all stakeholders to support the school's mission and objectives.
