This individual is responsible for designing, installing, monitoring, maintaining, and performance tuning production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. He/she is also responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software. Initial focus will be on database administration, particularly in making sure all production databases are up and running 24x7, and making sure all databases are backed up properly.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systemsEnsure all production databases are up and running 24x7Ensure all data assets are protected by designing and implementing the appropriate backup and restore strategyMonitoring database performance, including stored procedures and query execution times, and implement efficiency improvementsRespond to and resolve database access and performance issuesMonitor and optimize the physical data storage for database systemsPerform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hoursPlan, coordinate and implement database migrations and upgradesPerform database security auditsEstablish appropriate database access control levelsConfigure SQL to achieve high levels of performance, scalability, and availabilityExperience with SQL HADR technologies; including failover clustering and always-on availability groupsDesign and implement disaster recovery strategyParticipate in the On Call rotationSQL Encryption technology including TDE and Network traffic encryptionRequirements: Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
