Our Design Studio is a key part of the homebuilding experience, guiding homeowners through the exciting process of selecting finishes, materials, and details that bring their vision to life.We are seeking a Temporary Design Consultant to provide maternity leave coverage for approximately 5–6 months. This role is ideal for an experienced interior designer, design consultant, or residential selections specialist who enjoys working directly with clients and has a passion for residential design.Position SummaryThe Temporary Design Consultant will manage client design appointments, assist homeowners in making selections for their custom homes, coordinate with vendors and trade partners, and maintain accurate documentation throughout the selections process.The ideal candidate is highly organized, client-focused, comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously, and able to confidently guide clients through design decisions while balancing budget, functionality, and aesthetics.ResponsibilitiesLead homeowner design appointments and selection meetings.Assist clients with interior and exterior finish selections, including:CabinetryFlooringTileCountertopsPlumbing fixturesLightingPaint colorsTrim detailsExterior finishesDocument selections accurately within company systems.Coordinate with vendors, trade partners, and internal departments.Review plans and specifications to ensure selections are consistent with home design requirements.Prepare selection summaries and communicate updates to project teams.Manage client expectations, timelines, and design-related questions.Support change order requests and pricing coordination as needed.Maintain organization of design files, samples, and project documentation.Provide a high-touch, professional customer experience throughout the design process.Qualifications3+ years of experience in residential interior design, design consulting, homebuilding, or a related field preferred.Strong knowledge of residential construction finishes and materials.Excellent communication and presentation skills.Ability to confidently guide clients through design decisions.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general business software.Experience with Buildertrend or similar construction management software is a plus.Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred but not required.Desired TraitsPositive and professional demeanor.Detail-oriented and highly organized.Comfortable working independently.Strong problem-solving abilities.Ability to balance design creativity with construction practicality.Customer-service mindset with excellent follow-through.Schedule & LocationBased in our Columbus, Ohio Design Studio.Monday–Friday business hours.Temporary assignment anticipated to begin in July and continue for approximately 6 months.Potential flexibility for part-time or contract arrangements for highly qualified candidates.CompensationCompetitive hourly rate or temporary salary based on experience.Contract or temporary employee structure available.How to ApplyInterested candidates should submit a resume, portfolio (if available), and a brief introduction outlining their experience with residential design and client-facing selections appointments directly to Sydney Colotto : Scolotto@3pillar.comJoin our team and help homeowners create spaces they will love for years to come while supporting our Design Studio during an exciting season of growth.
