Do you love pets and want to join your experience with enabling systems that help PetSmart be the trusted partner of Pet Parents and their pets?\nThe Digital Engineering team is a high-impact, dynamic team of top-notch software engineers across a landscape of various Web and Mobile technology stacks. This role is ideally for someone who has experience developing websites within a large-scale retail environment.\nThe Software Engineer – Web will use the latest technologies to develop, implement, and maintain elements of petsmart.com\nOur scrum teams operate as Product and Platform teams. As part of the team, this person will collaborate with Product Managers, Business Partners, UX/UI Designers, Architects, and other Engineers to produce high quality solutions to the many challenges our business face. At every level, our IT associates are empowered to come up with innovative ideas that have strategic impacts to the business.\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nBuild highly performant web applications using TDD and 12factor app practices\nNeed to work independently without any help\nAnalyze business requirements, provide accurate development estimates, offer experience-based feedback, and help determine the proper implementation\nActively participate in and contribute to all scrum ceremonies – planning sessions, retrospectives, and reviews\nConduct and participate in peer reviews of team members’ code\nEvaluate and prototype new technologies that could be a potential improvement to our current tech stack\nSupport other engineers in your team and related teams\nREQUIREMENTS\nFull-stack Engineer with a Minimum of 4 years of web development within an enterprise environment\nExcellent problem solver\nExpert at building highly performant ecommerce site\nExperience with the following development technologies, libraries, frameworks:\nJavaScript/TypeScript\nNextJS\nNode\nTerraform\nEvent Driven Architecture\nKubernetes\nRESTful APIs\nFamiliarity with continuous integration and deployment\nProven experience integrating with APIs and 3rd Party systems integrations\nExperience developing distributed systems\nUnderstanding of Core Web Vitals and developing highly performant client-side applications\nProficient understanding of source control and build tools, such as Github, Github Actions, Jenkins, SonarQube\nExperience developing in an Agile environment, and familiarity with Agile tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence, etc.\nAbility to understand business requirements and the underlying complex technical dependencies\nAbility to address short-term tactical requirements without losing sight of the longer-range strategic direction\nSelf-motivated and disciplined to honor commitments made to the development team\nA collaborative, team player\nExcellent oral and written communication skills\nBS / BA degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education or experience\nPREFERRED SKILLS\nCommerce Tools\nGCP\nGraphQL\nContentful / CMS experience\n\nAbout the Culture\n\nAt PetSmart, we work hard to create a culture where every associate feels like they truly belong and we celebrate the unique stories, backgrounds, and experiences our associates share.
