This position is governed by the National IBEW Broadcast Agreement for CBS television stations.\r\nDuties & Responsibilities\r\nMonitor and manage inbound and outbound media using various transmission methods, including fiber, Skype, and LiveU.\r\nEnsure timely response to breaking news events and oversee broadcast delivery.\r\nCollaborate with team members and network staff, providing operational support as needed.\r\nIdentify, edit, and insert broadcast-quality video and audio into news bulletins on short notice.\r\nHandle broadcast media and feeds, manage video and audio switching, and operate recording equipment.\r\nUtilize servers and monitoring systems to manage media acquisition and delivery.\r\nIngest media into servers and prepare files for editing and broadcast.\r\nPerform basic troubleshooting and escalate technical issues when necessary.\r\nSupport live studio production requirements and provide excellent service to internal and external media operations clients.\r\nMonitor and control video encoding and decoding systems and troubleshoot incoming and outgoing transmission paths.\r\nDevelop and implement backup plans for equipment or transmission failures.\r\nEdit news content using non-linear editing systems.\r\nPerform other duties as assigned.\r\nSkills & Qualifications\r\nStrong knowledge of server-based news environments, broadcast hardware, and software systems.\r\nUnderstanding of news operations, current events, and the importance of attention to detail.\r\nProficiency in quality control (QC) tools and processes.\r\nFamiliarity with digital video formats, ingest workflows, media servers, and broadcast production environments.\r\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\r\nAbility to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.\r\nUnderstanding of broadcast production workflows and technical standards.\r\nWorking knowledge of broadcast formats, server systems, and diagnostic tools.\r\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced news environment.\r\nStrong organizational skills, reliability, and punctuality.\r\nExperience with Grass Valley Edius editing systems preferred.\r\nBachelor's degree in a technical field preferred.\r\nMinimum of 1–2 years of experience working in a fast-paced television news environment.\r\nExperience using non-linear editing systems required.\r\nMust be detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to work with minimal supervision.\r\nMust be a creative and adaptable team player capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.\r\nFlexibility to work nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed.\r\nCBS News and Stations, brings together the power of CBS News, 28 owned television stations in 17 major U.S. markets, the CBS News Streaming Network, CBS News Streaming local platforms, local websites and cbsnews.com, under one umbrella.
