The company is in stealth mode; details will be shared with qualified candidates.The RoleThe Deputy Controller is a hands-on, execution-focused accounting leader who will be the operational engine of our accounting function. Reporting to the CFO, this person will own day-to-day accounting activities, drive the monthly close, and serve as the primary administrator of our ERP and workflow tools. This is an ideal role for a CPA who wants to move from public accounting into a dynamic fintech environment with real ownership and a clear path to Controller.Key Responsibilities• Execute all day-to-day accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and general ledger maintenance• Prepare and post journal entries; perform account analyses and reconciliations across all entities as part of the monthly close• Own the close calendar and coordinate across teams to ensure on-time, accurate completion of month-end and quarter-end close• Prepare intercompany schedules and support consolidation entries under the direction of the Controller• Maintain and reconcile cash accounts across entities; support daily cash positioning and liquidity tracking• Serve as system administrator and power user for the ERP platform (Sage Intacct or similar); support implementation of workflow automation tools• Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for the annual financial statement audit• Prepare and file routine tax and compliance reports; support external advisors on tax matters as needed• Document accounting policies and procedures; identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring processes• Support the Controller on ad hoc financial analysis, reporting projects, and operational initiativesQualifications• CPA required (or actively pursuing licensure); public accounting background preferred• 5–7+ years of experience in public accounting and/or corporate accounting roles• Real estate, lending, fintech, or other transaction-intensive industry experience is a plus• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions• Hands-on experience with ERP systems; Sage Intacct proficiency is a plus• Experience supporting or participating in a financial statement audit process• Comfortable managing recurring close processes with tight deadlines and high accuracy standards• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling); experience with reporting tools a plus• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with strong follow-through and the ability to manage competing priorities• Collaborative, communicative, and eager to grow in a fast-scaling startup environment• Salary + bonus range (depending on experience): $150,000 - $225,000
