EHS Safety Specialist (Second Shift) – Holly Springs, NC
$35.00/hr - $45.00/hr
Full time – Second Shift 3:00pm-1:00am

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced EHS Safety Specialist who will provide critical Environmental, Health, and Safety support for second‑shift operations within a life science manufacturing environment. This role ensures compliance with safety policies, supports incident response, and helps maintain a safe working environment for all employees. The ideal candidate will have experience in life science manufacturing and a strong understanding of safety programs and regulatory requirements. This position does not include relocation support. Local candidates are encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide on-site EHS support during second‑shift operations (3pm–1am).
Assist with incident management, including response, documentation, and investigation to identify root causes and corrective actions.
Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and ensure proper selection and use of PPE.
Support First Aid response and coordinate medical attention when needed (First Aid/CPR/AED training preferred).
Oversee after‑hours handling and coordination of biological and hazardous waste in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
Provide ergonomic assessments and recommendations to reduce workplace strain and injury.
Engage with employees to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with EHS policies and procedures.
Participate in safety audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate EHS records and support reporting requirements.
Additional Skills
Must be a self‑motivated team player and communicate well with supervision.
Possess a professional attitude.
Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to drive and inspect both outdoor and indoor areas to observe compliance with established programs.
Experience in life science manufacturing preferred.
First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, EHS management systems, and incident investigation techniques.
Ability to assess workplace hazards and recommend effective safety measures.
Basic Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in Occupational Health and Safety Management.
Strong understanding of industrial safety programs.
Process driven with a strong Operational Excellence mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
Board certified Safety Professional certificate (CSP, SMP, ASP, GSP, or OHST/CHST).
OSHA 511 Occupational safety and health standard for general industry.
Experience in commercial or public construction projects.
Competency in NC‑OSH regulatory requirements.
5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry leading industrial programs.
Experience implementing and supporting construction or maintenance safety programs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate cross‑functionally.
