You will turn complex AI capabilities, such as chat assistants, document processing, and decision-support dashboards, into experiences that users trust. Every interface you build will meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.\n\nMust reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area and be able to work on-site at Government offices.\nMust be USC/GC/EAD and be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 background investigation.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign and develop user interfaces for AI-enabled applications, dashboards, and workflows, from user research, wireframes, and prototypes through visual design, interaction design, and production front-end code.\nBuild responsive, reusable front-end components (e.g., React or Angular with TypeScript) aligned with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and agency digital experience standards.\nDesign AI-specific user experiences, including conversational interfaces, source citations, confidence cues, and clear labeling of AI-generated versus human-verified content.\nDesign human-in-the-loop review screens that let users approve, override, reject, or escalate AI outputs with documented rationale.\nEnsure all interfaces meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA, test them with assistive technologies using DHS Trusted Tester methods, and prepare an ACR/VPAT for each release.\nPlan and run usability assessments with users, and use the findings, user feedback, and 21st Century IDEA guidance to refine designs.\nDevelop user adoption and training materials, including user guides, job aids, and release guidance, and support user enablement and helpdesk activities.\nCollaborate with AI engineers, product owners, and stakeholders in two-week Agile sprints, and take part in design, code, and accessibility reviews.\nKeep designs, code, and documentation in Government-approved repositories, using Government-furnished or open-source design tools.\nRequirements:\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience.
