The ideal candidate will have strong CAD design skills, a solid understanding of vehicle manufacturing and assembly processes, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative, and startup‑like environment.\n\nThis position is based at ENC’s headquarters in Riverside, California, and requires close cooperation with engineering teams in China as well as support for supplier selection and management both in the U.S. and internationally.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign and develop vehicle structures, chassis systems, and mechanical subsystems for new medium‑duty vehicles.\n\nCreate and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SolidWorks (CATIA or NX a plus).\n\nEnsure designs meet performance, durability, and manufacturability requirements.\n\nCollaborate cross‑functionally with electrical, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure system compatibility and efficiency.\n\nSupport prototype builds, mechanical testing, validation, and issue resolution.\n\nParticipate in supplier sourcing, evaluation, and management in the U.S. and abroad.\n\nTravel regularly to China to support and coordinate with China‑based engineering team, review supplier capabilities, and oversee technical alignment.\n\nParticipate in and support vehicle certification and compliance processes (e.g., FMVSS).\n\nLead or assist in root cause analysis and design improvement activities.\n\nQualifications\nRequired:\n\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.\n\n5+ years of experience in automotive, commercial vehicle, or mobility product development (EV experience preferred).\n\nAdvanced CAD proficiency (SolidWorks, CATIA, NX).\n\nStrong understanding of vehicle manufacturing processes, including fabrication, welding, plastics, composites, and final assembly.\n\nFamiliarity with automotive design practices, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.\n\nExcellent communication and teamwork skills across cross‑functional and cross‑cultural environments.\n\nAbility and willingness to travel internationally, including frequent travel to China.\n\nPreferred:\n\nExperience with electric vehicle systems (battery enclosures, thermal management, or high‑voltage components).\n\nFamiliarity with vehicle integration and system packaging.\n\nExperience working with international suppliers, particularly Chinese OEMs or tier suppliers.\n\nPrior involvement in new product development or startup environments is a plus.\n\nSkills and Attributes\n\nOpen‑minded and adaptable, with a strong desire to learn and contribute.\n\nHands‑on problem solver with strong analytical and technical judgment.\n\nSelf‑driven and capable of working independently while supporting a team environment.\n\nMotivated by innovation and excited to contribute to the creation of a new vehicle platform from the ground up.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nElDorado National California Inc.
