Are you ready to take on a role where your expertise will make a critical impact? The Multi-Domain Solutions (MDS) division is seeking a Senior Operations Technician to join our facilities team and take a lead role in the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical building systems. This position supports a large, complex facility and requires technical expertise in both mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, central plants, generators, power distribution, and building automation systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong troubleshooting skills and leadership capabilities to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operations.\r\nPrimary Responsibilities\r\nBoilers, chillers, HVAC systems\r\nElectrical distribution equipment (transformers, MCCs, UPS, substations)\r\nPumps, generators, and power systems\r\nBuilding automation systems (BAS)\r\nMonitor system performance using control panels, gauges, and BAS interfaces.\r\nRespond to alarms, breakdowns, and emergencies, implementing corrective actions swiftly.\r\nAnalyze operational data to detect inefficiencies or early equipment degradation.\r\nPerform both scheduled preventive maintenance and unscheduled corrective repairs.\r\nLead and guide Junior Operations Technicians in daily tasks and troubleshooting.\r\nMaintain documentation for inspections, repairs, and operational logs.\r\nEnsure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards.\r\nCoordinate with cross-functional departments during equipment outages and emergencies.\r\nBasic Qualifications\r\nMust be able to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance\r\nMust be available to work night shifts as part of the regular schedule.\r\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\r\n2-3 years of hands-on experience in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.\r\nWorking knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, cooling systems, and electrical wiring.\r\nAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, chassis charts, and diagnostic tools.\r\nSkilled in using standard hand and power tools for disassembly and reassembly of mechanical systems.\r\nExperience performing preventive and corrective maintenance, including brake adjustments, valve grinding, and light alignments.\r\nStrong troubleshooting and failure analysis skills.\r\nFamiliarity with safety protocols and ability to ensure safe work practices.\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\nExperience leading or mentoring junior technicians or overseeing shop operations.\r\nStrong background in quality control practices, energy efficiency improvements, and safety assurance.\r\nFamiliarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or diagnostic software.\r\nExperience conducting vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT or local regulatory standards.\r\nKnowledge of technical specification development and parts procurement processes.\r\nProject management experience related to equipment maintenance or fleet upgrades.\r\nEPA Section 609 certification for refrigerant handling (for work involving vehicle air conditioning systems).\r\nPay Range\r\nThe Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
