Role Description This is a full-time on-site position for a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) located in Jersey City, NJ. The SSHO will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring safety practices and compliance at the construction site. Day-to-day tasks include conducting safety inspections, implementing safety protocols, maintaining compliance with Federal, state, and local safety regulations, documenting safety incidents, and providing safety training for team members. The SSHO will also liaise with project management teams, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors to promote a culture of workplace safety. Qualifications CHST24 hr hazwoperComprehensive knowledge of safety compliance regulations, site-specific safety plans, and OSHA standardsStrong skills in safety inspections, risk assessments, and identifying hazardsExperience in safety education, training, and promoting a culture of workplace safetyProficiency in record-keeping, documentation, and reporting of incidentsExcellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently while coordinating effectively within a teamOSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training is requiredBachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field is preferredPrevious experience working on Federal or commercial construction projects is a plus
