monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points;\nPromptly respond to security threats and safety concerns, including violence, intrusion, fire, theft, vandalism, disturbances and other serious hazards;\nMonitors facility entrances to ensure proper check-in procedures in accordance with policy and procedures;\nPerforms building security patrols and inspections of designated areas;\nPrevents loss and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, restraining trespassers;\nCompletes incident reports by recording observations, occurrences, and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses, obtaining pertinent information and appropriate signatures;\nMaintains records in connection with incident reports;\nMaintains a secure environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls;\nMaintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with security regulations and requirements;\nEnsures safe environment for occupants by ensuring proper operation of security equipment by reporting equipment malfunctions, potential hazards conditions and items in need of repair (i.e., broken lights and inoperative or broken locks);\nPerforms security enforcement duties as described in post orders; and\nPerforms other duties as assigned by site supervisor.\n\nRequired Skills/Qualifications:\n\nThe ideal candidate must:\n\nBe a licensed security guard/officer in Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia;\nBe a minimum age of 23 years of age as required by law to carry a handgun;\nHave a minimum of 2 years of security guard experience;\nPossess a permit to carry a handgun or be able to qualify for a license to carry a handgun according to State specifications;\nHave at least a high school diploma or GED;\nBe able to successfully complete Universal Security's background investigation;\nHave excellent English language skills (reading, writing and comprehension)\nBe a licensed security guard/officer in Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia;\nBe physically fit to perform duties of the position, such as standing for extended periods of time, walking long distances; and hearing at a distance of 10 feet;\nPossess a valid driver's license or appropriate class driver's license as required by the local jurisdiction;\nBe a US citizen or possess appropriate work visa;
