Current focus areas include reinforcement learning, learning from demonstration, generative modeling, Bayesian inference, hierarchical learning, and robust evaluation.\r\nThis role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to a Senior Staff Software Engineer.\r\nYou will\r\nWork with a creative team of people who design, train, and evaluate large-scale ML models used throughout Waymo's systems, both on-board autonomous vehicles and off-board in simulation.\r\nDevelop ML framework and infrastructure required for integrating state-of-the-art LLM/VLM models into Waymo's diverse production environments.\r\nCollaborate with Waymo's perception and planning teams to transfer AI Foundations research into scalable and production-ready solutions.\r\nYou have\r\nBachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.\r\n3+ years of experience with Python.\r\n3+ years of ML software experience with machine learning frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax/Flax.\r\nWe prefer\r\nExtensive ML infrastructure experience, especially in automating training, evaluating, and deploying large-scale models in production environments.\r\nDeep learning experience, especially with generative models (e.g., LLMs/VLMs) and/or reinforcement learning.\r\nAdvanced proficiency in the internal architecture and performance tuning of ML frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.\r\nCompensation & Benefits:\r\nThe expected base salary range for this full-time position across U.S. locations is $175,000 – $221,000 USD. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
