Job Description
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the dissolver and filter press process and all associated equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs batch operations interfaced with computer-controlled equipment.
Interprets laboratory data and adjusts process to insure production meets quality specs.
Performs maintenance on equipment to limits of personal ability and training and assists skilled maintenance personnel when needed in the repair, replacement, etc. of all plant equipment, buildings, utilities and services.
Maintains high standards in housekeeping in all area of the plant and grounds.
Maintains excellent verbal and/or written communications between shifts and fellow operators.
Receives and carries out directions accurately and efficiently.
Functions in a team oriented operation and maintains active status as a team member.
Maintains production and other company requirements.
Requires detailed knowledge of entire process, SJP’S, and emergency procedures. Daily requirement is to lift up to 60 pounds. Stands or walks with intermittent climbing. Requires visual acuity.
Start up and shut down equipment in accordance with procedures while meeting production needs.
Maintain reliable operations of dissolving, glass unloading, fired boiler, and related equipment in conjunction with the maintenance department: i.e., pumps, motors, bearings, etc. through responsible and informed operation.
Dissolves glass from railcars, filters liquid material with filterpress and cleans/preps filterpress
Move and spot railcars using a Trackmobile based on production demands
Aids Furnace Operator in the unloading of raw material as needed
Additional Duties & Responsibilities
Participates in plant-wide HSE, quality and productivity initiatives.
Participates on the Safety Committee on a voluntary rotating basis.
Participates in HSE activities (i.e., Toolbox meetings, Tigers Observations., accident investigations, Hazard IDs, etc.).
Performs special projects or other duties as directed.
Performs quality control tests according to SPP’S to include:
Product Baume’
Product % Na2O
Product Ratio
Product LPC
Product Viscosity
Product Turbidity
Qualifications
Minimum Requirement: High school graduate or equivalent education.
Desired: Post high school education.
Prior background working in industrial production, preferably in a chemical processing plant.
Able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language (written and verbal)
Able to demonstrate basic computer skills including Microsoft Office products
Able to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
Good interpersonal skills, works well within a team environment.
Forklift Certification (or able to be trained immediately upon hire)
Heavy Equipment Certification (or able to be trained immediately upon hire)

Work Conditions:
Industrial plant environment
Must be able to work shifts.
Must be able to work overtime, holidays and weekends.
