In this role, you will be responsible for planning, testing, and implementing new products and product updates. This role is also responsible for actively pursuing and maintaining product safety certifications. The Applications Test Engineer will collaborate closely with engineering, production, quality, and product management teams. Responsibilities may also include various aspects of production support, quality processes, technical writing, and continuous improvement.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nPerforms and analyzes engineering and quality control functions to develop cost-effective and reliable manufacturing or measurement processes, applying engineering principles and standards.\nFollows established procedures in completing multiple technical assignments.\nAssists in the design and/or project/process management of new and current products, programs, components, tools and acceptance equipment under technical guidance of higher level Engineers or departmental management.\nObtains new product safety certifications and maintain current certifications by working directly with National Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs).\nDevelops test plans and performs engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, data reviews, and other testing processes to ensure product manufacturability.\nAccurately and timely complete product testing including hardware and firmware in destructive and non-destructive fashion, per engineering requirements.\nCoordinates design and procurement of product and test equipment to support production validation.\nProvides technical assistance in appropriate manufacturing and inspection areas.\nPrepares product or project definitions, manufacturing drawings and specifications, and test equipment designs.\nInteracts with customers, design agencies, suppliers, and internal organizations to assist in resolving design, development, production and acceptance issues.\nPrepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, makes recommendations for and initiates improvements for products and test equipment.\nCollaborates with Product Management team to meet Product Design Requirements and product improvements based on customer requests and market trends.\nCommunicates with supply chain to identify, test and validate component substitutions, maintain inventory, and introduce changes to production.\nAssists production assemblers to maintain test equipment and provide training on new equipment, products, and processes.\nMaintain calibration lab equipment and ensures safety guidelines are followed by all personnel.\nAssists in completion of monthly and quarterly product certification inspections.\nMaintains and updates controlled documents in QMS system as necessary.\nRequirements:\nEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred; Mechanical, Chemical, and Materials considered) from an ABET-accredited institution.\n1-3+ years technical experience in a manufacturing or electronics environment.\nAbility to work under minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making.\nProven ability to make and meet commitments, results oriented, and strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.\nKnowledge and understanding of electrical systems, circuits, and analog / digital circuits preferred.\nPreferred experience with:\nUL Safety Standards and Requirements, or similar.\nWriting and executing product test plans.\nQuality Management Software and Controlled Documentation.\nWorking knowledge of LabView, 3D CAD software, and Adobe Illustrator\nMicrosoft Office Suite\nAbility to work independently, work in or lead a group.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nAbility to sit at desk for long periods of time.\nOccasional lifting up to 50 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects.\nDexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse, tools and controls on office equipment.\nBody mobility to stoop, kneel, bend and reach.\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nWe believe in transparent and equitable pay.
