Personal Care Attendant
Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily activities. As a Personal Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in improving the quality of life for our clients by offering personalized care and ensuring their comfort and well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals in their homes, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare professionals
- Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure and temperature
- Assist with mobility and transfers to ensure safety and prevent falls
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding if necessary
- Engage in conversation and provide companionship to promote social interaction
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as tidying up living spaces and doing laundry
- Follow care plans and communicate any changes in the client's condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to clients and their families
Skills:
- Experience or knowledge in dementia care is highly desirable
- Ability to provide childcare services when needed
- Background or training as a nurse or in a related healthcare field is a plus
- Strong direct support skills with a focus on person-centered care
- Excellent caregiving abilities with empathy and patience
- Proficient in meal preparation according to dietary requirements or restrictions
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures
- Knowledge of systems for tracking client information and maintaining accurate records
