Company Overview
GTI designs, engineers, and manufactures complex modular systems supporting energy storage, power generation, data center infrastructure, defense, and industrial markets. GTI delivers fully integrated, engineered-to-order solutions including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), generator-backed power systems, and modular data centers manufactured in-house.
Position Overview
GTI is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical system design and development across advanced modular programs, including BESS, GenSet-based power systems, and modular data center infrastructure. This role owns electrical architecture, schematic development, and technical execution for complex power and control systems operating across varying voltage levels and power capacities.
The Senior Electrical Engineer serves as a technical authority, working closely with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and project teams to ensure designs are safe, scalable, manufacturable, and compliant with applicable standards. This role requires strong experience in power distribution, control systems, and electrical documentation within industrial or energy-focused environments.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Design & Architecture
Lead electrical system design for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), generator systems, and modular data center power infrastructure
Develop electrical architectures supporting varying levels of power generation, storage, and distribution
Design AC and DC power systems, including low-voltage and medium-voltage applications as required by project scope
Define system-level power distribution, protection, grounding, and control strategies
Schematic Development & Documentation
Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams using SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent
Develop panel layouts, cable schedules, and interconnection diagrams
Ensure electrical documentation is complete, accurate, and production-ready
Maintain revision control and support engineering change management
BESS, GenSet & Power Integration
Design electrical systems integrating battery systems, inverters, transformers, generators, switchgear, and protection devices
Support parallel operation, load sharing, and backup power configurations
Design control and monitoring interfaces between power systems and control platforms
Support integration of power generation and storage systems into modular enclosures
Modular Data Center Electrical Design
Support electrical design for modular data center infrastructure including power distribution units (PDUs), UPS systems, generators, and switchgear
Design redundant and fault-tolerant power architectures (e.g., N+1, 2N)
Support integration of cooling, monitoring, and control systems from an electrical perspective
Cross-Functional Engineering Support
Partner with Mechanical Engineering to ensure electrical designs integrate with enclosures, thermal systems, and physical layouts
Support Manufacturing Engineering with design-for-manufacturability and build strategy input
Provide technical guidance to production teams during build, test, and integration
Support troubleshooting and root cause analysis during prototype builds and production
Compliance, Standards & Safety
Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes and standards such as NEC, UL, IEC, and project-specific requirements
Support UL-listed and customer-certified system designs
Apply safety best practices in power system design and documentation
Project & Technical Leadership
Serve as a technical lead on assigned programs
Support project planning, technical risk identification, and issue resolution
Mentor junior engineers and designers as needed
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
8+ years of experience in electrical engineering roles within industrial, energy, or infrastructure environments
Strong experience designing power systems across varying voltage and power levels
Proven experience developing electrical schematics and documentation
Experience with power generation, energy storage, or critical power infrastructure
Strong understanding of AC/DC power systems, protection, and controls
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
Experience with generator systems, paralleling switchgear, and backup power architectures
Experience supporting modular data centers or mission-critical infrastructure
Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical
Experience supporting UL-listed or code-compliant system designs
Prior experience in modular, containerized, or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments
