As the installation business leader, you will oversee the coordination of people, materials, and processes to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and to Johnson Controls’ quality standards.In this role, you will lead, mentor, and develop a team of installation professionals while executing business strategy, driving operational excellence, and ensuring customer satisfaction and financial performance. You will serve as a key leader for the installation business, balancing customer commitments, safety, productivity, and profitability.How You Will Do ItOversee the installation, programming, and commissioning of fire alarm and electronic systems per approved designs, specifications, and applicable codesEnsure work is performed safely and responsibly in compliance with corporate EHS policies to prevent injuries, property damage, or material lossConfirm installation schedules with customers prior to project start datesTest installed systems to ensure proper operation and obtain approval from local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)Read and interpret building plans, electrical drawings, and specifications as requiredPartner with Project Coordinators to align installation activities with customers, contractors, and internal teamsTeam Leadership & DevelopmentCoach, mentor, and develop installation technicians, including onboarding, training, and ongoing performance managementPlan, schedule, supervise, and coordinate installation activities across multiple projectsProvide daily direction and exercise independent judgment to ensure quality, productivity, and adherence to schedulesSupport technician success through clear expectations, accountability, and continuous feedbackBusiness & Operational ManagementPartner with the sales organization during the pre-bid process to ensure accurate labor scoping and installation planningManage field resources to align with current and future project demands and customer obligationsDrive revenue and profitability by implementing plans, programs, and processes aligned with corporate objectivesMonitor productivity metrics and implement improvement actions to meet or exceed performance goalsCustomer Satisfaction & Relationship ManagementMaintain effective and proactive customer communication throughout installation projectsEnsure contractual obligations are fulfilled while resolving installation, billing, or collection concernsAddress customer complaints promptly and professionally to enhance satisfaction and long-term relationshipsSafety & ComplianceEnsure all employees comply with corporate safety programs and policiesConfirm safety training and certifications are current and completeConduct accident investigations in the field and office as required by EHS policiesComplete required job site safety inspections in accordance with corporate and regulatory standardsOn-Call & Technician SupportProvide 24/7 on-call support for after-hours customer issues, dispatch guidance, and technical problem-solvingSupport technicians with after-hours phone and field guidance to maintain strong customer relationshipsOversee daily operation and utilization of fleet vehicles assigned to the Installation DepartmentRequired QualificationsWhat We Look ForBachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experienceMinimum of 5–10 years of experience in a fire alarm installation environmentDemonstrated supervisory or leadership experience, including training, team development, and performance managementStrong presentation, communication, negotiation, and customer interaction skillsNICET Level II Certification in Fire Alarm SystemsPreferred Qualifications7+ years of hands-on field experience5 years of fire alarm audio programming experienceAt least 1 year of people management or supervisory experienceKnowledge of additional low-voltage systemsSimplex 4100ES certificationSimplex network certificationHIRING SALARY RANGE: $71,000 - $105,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
