Schnabel approaches complex infrastructure challenges with creativity, technical excellence, and a collaborative mindset. We are seeking a Construction Manager to support our Tunnels Business Unit (TBU) Program Management and Construction Management practice. This role provides the opportunity to work alongside industry leaders on technically demanding projects while continuing to grow professionally.\nJob Responsibilities:\nProvide daily on-site construction management support and oversight for tunnel and underground infrastructure projects, including excavation, ground support, shafts, tunnel linings, structural concrete, and associated surface works.\nSupport Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Design-Bid-Build, and Design-Build delivery methods through constructability reviews, sequencing evaluations, and early work package coordination.\nSupport the projects and TBU leadership with administration of construction contracts, including review of submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and contractor correspondence.\nPerform field verification of installed work and reconcile contractor payment applications with observed progress, quantities, and schedule of values.\nReview contractor baseline schedules, updates, and recovery schedules and validate reported progress against field observations.\nAssist with evaluation and negotiation of change orders and field modifications related to differing site conditions, constructability challenges, and design refinements.\nMonitor construction activities for compliance with plans, specifications, safety requirements, environmental permits, and geotechnical recommendations.\nPromote a strong safety culture by enforcing site-specific safety plans and participating in safety meetings.\nCoordinate with inspectors, contractors, designers, utility owners, and agency stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain effective project execution.\nRequired Skills/Experience:\nBachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.\n5–8 years of construction management or field engineering experience on tunnel, underground, or heavy civil projects.\nExperience interpreting engineering drawings, geotechnical reports, specifications, and contract requirements.\nWorking knowledge of CPM scheduling, production tracking, and schedule updates.\nExperience with Oracle Primavera Unifier, Primavera P6, e-Builder, Procore, and Microsoft Office.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nAbility to work on active construction sites and underground environments, including confined spaces, uneven terrain, and variable weather conditions.\nAbility to work extended or non-standard hours as required by project demands.\nPreferred Skills/Experience:\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license.\nOSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.\nCertified Construction Manager (CCM).\nExperience with TBM, SEM/NATM, or cut-and-cover tunneling methods.\nPrior experience supporting large, technically complex infrastructure programs.\nOther Requirements:\nAbility to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check\nAbility to pass a pre-employment screening\nThe compensation range for this position is between $145,000 to $180,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors.
