The District Controller is a critical tactical and strategic management position, reporting to the platform company Vice President of Finance and dotted line reporting to the Division President. The District Controller is a key leadership role in the management of the company, as well as in the development and execution of short term and long-term strategy. The company has a collaborative leadership team, and the District Controller is expected to be a true “business partner” and work effectively across all functional areas. The District Controller is also expected to be a positive impact across the company and enhance the culture internally, as well with customers, suppliers and key third parties.\nWHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!) Partners with Vice President of Finance to develop and implement goals, policies, priorities, financial strategy, linked metrics and procedures in regards to financial and operational management including budgeting and accounting.\nIs responsible for more than one Sciens Division/location.\nEstablishes sound internal financial management control systems and develops procedures to continuously improve internal control systems.\nLeads preparation of ongoing required financial statements and operating reports ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.\nReviews financial statements and operating reports with all parties of interest, including gap analysis and recommendations to improve performance.\nOversees and ensures timely and accurate processing of transactions and accounting data and ensures legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.\nOversees various DOL, IRS, 401(k), and medical compliance regulations.\nOversees DCAA and other compliance requirements for any publicly-funded projects.\nLeads the coordination with CPA firm of preparation of external audit materials, external GAAP financial reporting and all tax compliance and reporting.\nManages annual audit and auditor relations.\nResponsible for monthly business review package, and ownership and delivery of monthly reporting package to platform Vice President of Finance.\nPreparation/analysis of daily/weekly/monthly reports of key financial and operational metric trends.\nInitiates and optimizes appropriate strategies to enhance cashflow and working capital positions.\nAssesses organizational performance against budgets with functional leaders and management team.\nManages ongoing banking and bonding requirements.\nLeads ERP system deployment and operation.\nResponsible to ensure all employees embrace our safety culture and comply with all safety initiatives.\nWHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred; MBA desired.\nMinimum of 5-10 years of experience as a Controller.\nExperience managing multiple locations.\nStrong cost accounting skills, including standard costing processes and percentage of completion (POC) revenue recognition.\nSolid inventory management skills.\nStrong leadership: A proactive and passionate advocate for the business.\nSense of urgency with an “all hands on deck” attitude.\nStrategic thinking: Develops strategies to help achieve departmental and company goals.\nVerbal/written communication skills: Speaks/writes clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Listens and seeks needed clarification. Actively participates in meetings. Presents himself/herself in a professional manner.\nInnovation: Displays original thinking and creativity.
