Loading, unloading, and delivery of materials, including supplies, equipment; and to do related work as required.\nDistinguishing Characteristics\nThis is working level classification. Incumbents have responsibility for performing delivery and transport functions to locations within and outside of Siskiyou County in a variety of weather conditions. Incumbents will be utilized on an on-call basis 24 hours per day - 365 days per year depending on availability established between incumbent and supervisor. Incumbents are expected to respond to requests for transports in accordance with required function/transport.\nReports to\nAssigned supervisor or manager depending upon the department or program area where assigned.\nClassifications Supervised\nThis is not a supervisory class.\nExamples of Duties\nEssential Functions:\nTransport clientele to and from a variety of locations within and outside of Siskiyou County and/or the State of California. Transports include transporting of clients to and from doctor's appointments, programs, and scheduled outings.\nDuties include driving to remote areas to transport clients to/from specific medical office locations, loading and unloading County vehicle(s) ensuring all items and supplies are accounted for and properly secured, pick up, sort and deliver materials/supplies to various sites throughout Siskiyou County.\nOperates a County vehicle safely and in compliance with State and Federal laws.\nHandle special requests related to the transport(s) and transfer of clientele, materials, and furniture, as directed by supervisors or management, update and maintain records related to delivery and transport assignments.\nMaintain assigned vehicle in a clean and safe operating condition, and perform basic cleaning and sanitizing of vehicle as necessary.\nKnowledge of:\nRoutine vehicle cleaning and sanitizing requirements..\nGood public relations techniques.\nSafe driving practices.\nLocation of various cities and towns throughout Siskiyou County.\nFamiliarity of specific roads and highways.\nDesired Skills:\nPrioritize work load to meet established time lines and special requests.\nFollow oral and written directions.\nRead and follow specific maps to various locations.\nRead and write at the level required for successful job performance.\nPerform routine washing and sanitizing of vehicles.\nUse and safely operate a vehicle in accordance with State and Federal laws.\nWork on own initiative without close supervision.\nDeal tactfully and courteously with the public and other staff.\nEstablish and maintain cooperative working relationships.\nProperly install child safety seats. *Training will be provided by department.\nTypical Qualifications\nTraining and Experience:\nAny combination of training and experience that would provide the knowledge and skills to successfully perform the listed duties is qualifying. A typical way, but not required, to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be:\nPrevious experience performing vehicle operation duties.\nSpecial Requirements:\nPossession of a valid and appropriate driver's license issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.\nApplicants must have a clean driving record for the preceding three years.\n\nSupplemental Information\nTypical Physical Requirements\nSit and drive for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; stoop, kneel and crouch to pick up or move objects. Operate a vehicle for transporting of clientele in compliance with State and Federal law(s). Normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; physical ability to lift, push, carry, and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; and verbal communication.\nTypical Working Conditions\nWork is performed in various models of vehicles, outside in various types of weather, and in an office environment.
