General InformationWork Location: 9000 Town Center Parkway, Lakewood Ranch, Florida 34202Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pmExpected Starting Salary Range: $65,118.41 - $84,653.94This classification performs a variety of duties toward grant seeking efforts, including preparing, writing, and submitting grant proposals to support county wide programs, services, projects, and resources. Duties include pre-award activities, including prospect research for seeking out grant funding opportunities, writing and applying for grants, data and information gathering, and submitting proposals in local, state, and federal grant portals.Employment screenings, as outlined in the Personnel Policy, Rules, and Procedures Manual, will be conducted in compliance with applicable federal and Florida Laws. Working ConditionsThe work environment may include exposure to high noise levels while performing certain essential job functions. The position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance, with or without reasonable accommodation. The role involves sitting for extended periods while working on a computer. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.Researches and identifies federal, state, nonprofit, or other grant opportunities. Generates high-quality proposals, narratives, applications, and supporting documents in response to solicitations consistent with all policies and procedures of Manatee County, and the requirements and guidelines of the funding agencies.Reads and interprets requests for proposals and funding guidelines to determine appropriateness for Manatee County’s Health Service Section and how best to respond.Generates revenues for Manatee County programs through timely submission of well-researched, well written, and well-documented grant proposals.Researches, compiles, organizes, analyzes, and disseminates data and information for grant proposals.Develops and organizes grant and proposal documentations with consistent style and formatting standards.Performs other related duties as assigned, including participation in emergency or disaster response activities, as required and consistent with the employee’s qualifications, essential job functions, and appliable federal and Florida law. Minimum QualificationsPreferred bachelor’s degree in a field related to social science, environmental science, business, finance, English, or public administration.Two (2) or more years of experience in a position related to grant writing and development.Experience with state and/or federal grant portals.Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite.Valid driver’s license with Florida driver’s license within 30-days of hire.Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications for this position.MoreKnowledge, Skills, And Abilities:Desired training in grant writing.Knowledge of principles and practices of grant budgeting and narrative writing.Ability to perform research and analyze data.Ability to communicate orally and in writing with clarity and conciseness.Ability to perform analytical work carefully and accurately.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work.Develops recommendations for future grant funding based upon program review and analysis.Veterans Preference In accordance with Florida Statute 295.07, F.S., Chapter 55A-7, priority consideration in employment will be given to eligible veterans and spouses of disabled veterans.
