QA Inspector
Job Description Job #218008 Chipton-Ross is seeking a QA Inspector for a permanent on site position in Wichita, KS. REQUIREMENTS Must have at least 2 yrs. experience in aerospace inspection OBJECTIVE: Performs first article, in-process and finished part inspection of machined, fabricated and assembled aerospace parts, maintains quality documentation, and performs related tasks to ensure customer quality standards have been met in the manufacture and processing of customer parts SPECIAL WORK CONDITIONSProlonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, bending and stretchingLifting up to 50 lb. without assistance and over 50 lb. with assistanceConstant exposure to general shop conditions, including machine noise and metal dustConstant repetitive use of hands, wrists and arms Level I: Major Activities Performed and Machines/Tools Used by All Job Levels Precision measuring equipment (PME), i.e., micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers, protractors, etc.Blueprints, mylars and check fixtures/templatesShop charts, shop sketches and other supporting documents (Engineering Orders, SPCO's, Drawing Change Notices)Rockwell hardness and conductivity testingTypical Job Requirements Reads customer blueprints and checks parts for conformance with customer specifications using standard inspection proceduresUses gauges and certified tools as requiredFollows instructions from manufacturing planning, setup sheets, shop charts and verbal work instructionsLearns one or more certified inspection operations and passes certification exam (i.e. Rockwell, conductivity, weld,)Understands and follows hazardous waste disposal requirementsDemonstrates good communication and self-management skillsKnows how to input FAI data into FAI formsPerforms end of line activities including Certificate of ConformancesScans work orders from various departments and areasKnows how to operate a part mark machineEducation & Experience High School graduate or equivalentMechanical aptitude and good work ethicMinimum one-year work experience in aerospace machining environment, preferably as a machinist or inspectorDemonstrated mathematical abilityDemonstrated ability to read and comprehend technical documentsTemper inspector must receive Rockwell and conductivity training and pass certification examLevel II: Major Activities Performed and Machines/Tools Used by Job Level Performs all major activities identified in Level IUses all tools and machines indicated in Level IReviews and interprets technical customer, supplier and internal documentation for application in the inspection processDemonstrated ability to review CMM Reports and interpret them with little assistanceDemonstrated ability to bench inspect features to correlate CMM results on most part configurationsPerforms all quality inspection functions at a senior levelProvides guidance to Level I Inspectors as requiredTypical Job Requirements Performs all requirements of Level IFully competent in the understanding and interpretation of manufacturing planning, setup sheets, shop charts and verbal work instructionsReviews and approves first article paperwork prepared by Level I InspectorsReviews manufacturing documents including customer purchase orders, materials and processing documentation, engineering specifications and is able to extract and apply information to the current job or work order without assistanceAdvanced blueprint reading capabilitiesTrains Level I Inspector in Level II tasksPerforms special assignments (example: tooling acceptance or 1st part conformity)Maintains certification in one or more certified inspection operations (i.e. Rockwell, conductivity, weld,)Performs multifunctional operations and is cross-trained in multiple inspection functionsPerforms as a lead person if requiredDemonstrates high efficiency in daily activitiesUnderstands and can navigate in Net-Inspect to upload FAI informationEducation & Experience Possesses all Education and Experience credentials as Level I with the following additions: Minimum of three years of work experience as a Quality Inspector in a machining or assembly aerospace manufacturing facilityHas received specialized training in blueprint, math, communication or other applicable trainingDemonstrates good computer skills (Excel and Word)Ability to work in NWI manufacturing softwareGeneral Duties and Responsibilities for both Level I and Level II Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations.
