The PositionThe Molecular Technician's primary responsibility is to assist analytical and post-analytical processes associated with specimen processing and test performance under the supervision and control of licensed individuals in the clinical laboratory. This may include assisting with the processing and testing of clinical specimens, maintaining lab organization and cleanliness, and adhering to quality control and quality assurance procedures.The Molecular Technician is knowledgeable with, and is a resource for others within the laboratory, the use of equipment, databases, and software applications. Maintains flexibility with regard to work schedule including section assignment, daily work shift and days of the week as determined by business need.Schedule: Sun-Thurs, 9:00 AM-5:30 PM.Location: This is an onsite position based in our South San Francisco location.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe Molecular Technician functions as a laboratory support team member. The main duties and responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:Multi-task efficiently, maintain flexibility, and work as a team player to process samples according to multiple workflows and maintain established turnaround timesCapable of identifying specimen processing problems that may adversely affect the reporting of test results and immediately notify the supervisorUnder direct and constant supervision by a licensed individualFacilitate molecular genetic testing on clinical specimensAssist in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control activities in accordance with the laboratorys policies and procedures Preparation and storage of reagentsAble to follow instructions and strictly follow proceduresAssist with maintaining inventory materials and laboratory suppliesComplete other related administrative duties, including copying, filing, data entry, faxing, and quality control of spreadsheetsAssist in research and validation activitiesTake ownership and accountability of ensuring the highest quality of internal/external customer serviceUnderstanding of compliance regulations related to test orderingPerform all duties according to guidelines outlined within the quality systemsCompliant with company policies, procedures, safety requirements and regulationsPerform any other site/lab specific duties as assignedWho You AreTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
