Below are the preferred skills, duties, and responsibilities you will perform as our Quality Engineer.\n\nPURPOSE\nThe function of the Quality Engineer is to perform a variety of engineering assignments with key stakeholders designed to facilitate the control and improvement of product quality.\n\nJOB REQUIREMENTS\nEducation\n\nHigh School diploma or GED required; vocational school equivalent acceptable\n\nDegree from an accredited engineering program or related 4‑year degree required\n\nLean Six Sigma Green Belt certification preferred\n\nExperience\n\nMinimum of 2 years of relevant, practical experience, preferably in a high‑precision CNC and/or assembly environment\n\nExperience working in an ISO 9001 certified facility\n\nExperience participating in or leading multidisciplinary teams in problem‑solving projects using root‑cause analysis (RCA) tools and developing effective corrective actions\n\nSkills, Knowledge, and Abilities\n\nStrong communication and active listening skills with internal teams, external suppliers, and subcontractors\n\nAbility to write technical reports and business correspondence\n\nStrong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills\n\nProficiency in advanced mathematics and statistics\n\nBasic computer literacy and ability to use standard business and quality systems\n\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints and schematics\n\nUnderstanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles\n\nKnowledge of process capability (Cp/Cpk)\n\nApplication of Statistical Process Control (SPC) for both incoming inspection (external suppliers) and internal manufacturing processes\n\nFamiliarity with Coordinate Measuring Equipment (CMM) and related technologies, including scanners, vision systems, and other standard metrology equipment\n\nUnderstanding of precision machine shop production techniques and processes\n\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision\n\nKnowledge of firearms is a plus\n\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nApply strong knowledge of quality systems to develop, maintain, and continuously improve processes and products, ensuring compliance with internal, customer, and ISO 9001 requirements while supporting annual business goals\n\nCollaborate with design engineering, process engineering, manufacturing, sales, customer service, and purchasing teams to resolve issues related to customer complaints, product design, specifications, materials, tooling, and production quality\n\nDevelop and maintain quality control plans incorporating statistical process control, analysis, and reporting of results and trends\n\nMaintain and improve the quality program to ensure conformity of purchased materials and components\n\nManage supplier quality assurance qualification, evaluation, and ongoing performance monitoring\n\nPartner with engineering teams to establish quality procedures and guidelines for new products\n\nReview existing products and develop or update quality assurance procedures and related documentation\n\nEstablish and maintain inspection criteria, inspection reports, and inspection procedures\n\nImplement quality assurance procedures during pre‑production and production startup phases\n\nWork closely with production supervisors to communicate and enforce quality requirements\n\nPrepare reports and maintain accurate quality records and documentation\n\nConduct internal audits and prepare audit reports\n\nPerform other reasonable duties as assigned by leadership\n\nEqual Opportunity and Affiliation\nLMT Defense is committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
