This position works within the Avionics Center of Excellence to evaluate current and emerging flight deck technologies, define architecture requirements, support IMA application development and testing, and provide technical recommendations that enable efficient aircraft systems integration.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nDevelop knowledge and technical expertise related to Highly Integrated Control Systems and Distributed Integrated Modular Architectures\nSupport OEM requirement capture for IMA System Architecture, IMA Platforms, and Hosted Functions\nDefine roles and responsibilities associated with the IMA System Integrator, IMA Application Provider, and IMA Platform Provider\nApply DO-297 guidelines to support IMA development, safety, and certification plans in collaboration with internal stakeholders and suppliers\nUse integrated tool chains provided by the platform provider to build and test IMA applications using virtual test benches and hardware-in-the-loop environments\nDevelop and implement methodologies and procedures to ensure architectures support safety, security, certification, and end-user requirements\nDefine standards for validation, verification, and functional testing\nCollaborate with project leadership to communicate progress, design evolution, risks, issues, and roadblocks\nProvide technical direction and recommendations during design reviews covering hardware, software, data network architecture, and development processes\nAdvise the organization on the impact of new regulations affecting avionics architecture\nInterface with advanced design analyses, results, recommendations, and next steps\nOperate to defined schedule and cost objectives\nProvide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and interns\nKNOWLEDGE\nAdvanced knowledge of Integrated Modular Avionics, highly integrated control systems, distributed systems architectures, and aircraft-level avionics integration\nKnowledge of DO-297, AC 20-170, TSO-C153, TSO-C214, safety, development, and certification guidelines applicable to IMA systems\nStrong understanding of aerospace communication protocols, including AFDX, ARINC 429, ARINC 664 Part 7, and ARINC 661\nKnowledge of requirements development, validation, flow down, traceability, verification, and functional testing standards\nFamiliarity with networking communication protocols and related software development, including UDP/IP and Ethernet\nKnowledge of embedded real-time operating systems, critical real-time embedded software, distributed systems, and model-based development tools is preferred\nCOMPETENCIES\nStrong systems thinking and technical problem-solving within complex aircraft and avionics environments\nAbility to influence and collaborate effectively with limited formal authority\nSound engineering judgment, accountability, and a positive, solution-focused approach\nStrong written communication, technical documentation, and oral presentation skills in English\nFunctional French communication skills preferred\nAbility to positively interact, communicate, and coordinate activities with peers, management, collaborators, suppliers, and engineering stakeholders\nEXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION\nUniversity degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field required\nMinimum of eight years of experience with integrated systems architectures, including Integrated Modular Avionics required\nExperience with complex aircraft systems development, integration, validation, verification, and certification required\nExperience working with DO-297, AC 20-170, TSO-C153, and TSO-C214 guidelines required\nExperience with requirements development, validation, flow down, traceability, technical documentation, and design review support required\nExperience with embedded real-time operating systems, such as VxWorks 653, critical real-time embedded systems, or distributed systems is an asset\nUnderstanding of aircraft systems integration, ground and flight test activities, component qualification, reliability, safety requirements, and FAR Part 25 / CAR 525
