Plans and coordinates activities to meet company and contractual requirements. Leads and participates in the design of components, portions of a functional system, or technically advanced prototypes. Develops current documentation and reports to reflect department activity. Contributes to the establishment of operating policies and procedures for the function. Participate in the development of current and long-term objectives. May be responsible for decisions that impact the department.\n\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nCoordinate the planning and development of standard design and drafting processes and tools.\nMonitor design and drafting activities for compliance with company and/or contractual requirements.\nParticipate in the development of basic data, preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals.\nInvestigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, and contractual specification requirements and cost.\nReview completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, and accuracy.\nCoordinate with appropriate engineering and project personnel to resolve schedule and priority conflicts within budget.\nIdentify design issues and recommend revisions and/or improvements in design layout. Implement and maintain design and drafting standards, manuals, procedures and formats.\nReview maintenance contracts. Determine hardware, plotters, and operating system software.\nInteract with management on decisions relating to engineering data management including both document control and CAD.\nParticipate in the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development of human resources to ensure the availability of the required technical talent.\nMaintain the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.\nResponsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
