This position reports directly to the Site EHS&S Manager.\n\nYour Responsibilities\n\nMaintain the EHSS Management System, including the deployment of EHSS programs and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines; EHSS policies, procedures, initiatives; and industry best practices.\n\nEnsure compliance with the EHSS Program by all site personnel, visitors, and contractors through appropriate awareness level and task‑specific training.\n\nParticipate on the Site EHSS Committee in support of the EHSS Management System and serve as a technical resource to local management as the EHSS Specialist.\n\nWork closely with the EHSS Manager and Site Leadership to ensure continual improvement and compliance with all EHSS activities in support of the EHSS Management System.\n\nParticipate and conduct site audits and inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, prevent injuries, identify risks, and ensure timely close‑out of corrective and preventive actions.\n\nSupport incident investigations to ensure appropriate root cause and mistake‑proof solutions are implemented throughout the facility; participate in site investigations as required.\n\nFacilitate hazard assessments, including PPE, ergonomic, machine guarding, confined space, fall protection, and risk assessments.\n\nDevelop and maintain key safety documents, such as JSAs/JHAs, Energy Control Procedures, audit templates, etc.\n\nFacilitate and manage the Site Security Process, Security Plan, and Emergency Planning and Response Process.\n\nSupport the Behavioral‑Based Safety Program, focusing on safety as a core value through resource partnerships.\n\nProvide regulatory and practical training as part of the Site Training Plan; create new training materials as required.\n\nSupport the Site’s EHSS Management of Change process, evaluating impacts to the facility, employees, and permits prior to implementation.\n\nKey Accountabilities\n\nAdhere to company policies and procedures.\n\nCoordinate and implement programs for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.\n\nSupport sustainability and environmental awareness programs.\n\nMaintain records and documents in compliance with regulations and provide safety performance data.\n\nPrepare and submit regulatory reports, notifications, and communications with agencies.\n\nSchedule and deliver EHSS training, prepare materials, log training records, and track completion.\n\nAnalyze and trend key safety indicators (milestones, concerns, action items) to facilitate routine metrics reporting.\n\nConduct, facilitate, and document routine audits and inspections.\n\nConduct daily facility patrols to ensure safety guidelines are being met.\n\nAssist in incident investigations, identifying root causes, and driving corrective actions.\n\nIssue safety communications and alerts to enhance employee knowledge of hazards and risks.\n\nFacilitate reduction of exposure to occupational hazards and recommend control measures.\n\nMaintain, track, and report chemical usage, emissions, and compliance with regulations.\n\nAssist with environmental compliance programs including waste management, air emissions, stormwater, and spill response.\n\nSupport energy reduction and sustainability initiatives aligned with corporate goals.\n\nEnsure contractor compliance with site procedures and guidelines.\n\nRepresent the EHS&S Department and assume responsibilities in the absence of the Manager.\n\nPartner with operations, engineering, and maintenance to integrate EHSS into daily processes and implement controls.\n\nRequirements\n\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all employee levels, leadership, consultants, and regulatory entities.\n\nCritical thinking skills: define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and implement countermeasures.\n\nLeadership and facilitation of key initiatives, team interactions, and results delivery.\n\nResponsiveness to common inquiries or complaints from employees and/or customers.\n\nResearch, preparation, and formatting of training and other written communications.\n\nSense of urgency, ability to work under pressure, and manage multiple priorities; attention to detail.\n\nSelf‑start and follow‑through on tasks.\n\nHigh energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects with normal activities.\n\nInfluence others and drive change.\n\nOrganized and ability to set priorities.\n\nAbility to observe strict confidentiality.\n\nEducation & Experience\n\nBachelor’s degree preferred.\n\nASP, CSP, CHMM, or similar certification (or willingness to pursue).\n\nStrong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA/IEPA standards, and industry best practices.\n\nExperience with risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety training delivery.\n\nMinimum 5+ years of environmental, health and safety management experience (approx. 75% safety, 25% environmental).\n\nExperience in industrial manufacturing (machining or metalworking preferred) with knowledge of fire safety, welding, electrical safety/LOTO, machine guarding, mechanical ventilation, manual handling, and ergonomics.\n\nExtensive knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to safety, health, and environmental programs.\n\nExperience developing, implementing, and managing EHSS plans and programs desirable.\n\nExperience with recordkeeping or managing databases desirable.\n\nExperience with EHS training software (Cornerstone, Eco Online, etc.) and data management systems preferred.\n\nMust be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.\n\nEqual Opportunity\nChromalox is an equal‑opportunity employer;
