Parks and Recreation is currently looking for Lifeguards!
Current vacancies include shifts at both indoor aquatic facilities (Midco Aquatic Center and Westside Recreation Center) and outdoor pools:
Summer 2026 outdoor pool schedules
Year-round lead positions eligible to work 40 hours per week, which includes insurance benefits. Weekly schedule is Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Weekday shifts: 5:15 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Lifeguards interested in assisting with swimming lessons

Part-time lifeguards (eligible to work up to 28 hours per week) are needed at both indoor aquatic facilities. Available shifts are listed below.
Midco Aquatic Center Shift Options
Monday through Friday: 5:15 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. or 3:45 to 8:15 p.m.
Saturday: 6:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 to 6:15 p.m.
Sunday: 11:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Westside Recreation Center Shift Options
Monday through Friday: 4:45 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. or 4 to 9 p.m.
Saturday: 6:45 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 12 to 5 p.m.
Sunday: 9:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 1:30 to 5 p.m.
Indoor Pool Shifts
Schedules vary. Shifts average 40+ hours per week.
Applicants must be 15 years old. Must be willing and will be required to work a varied schedule including weekends and evening hours.
Applicants should demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills. Lifeguard employment requires American Red Cross lifeguard certification. Applicants can apply without certification. The job offer is contingent based on successful completion of the certificate. If hired, the City of Sioux Falls will reimburse the cost of certification.
