In this role, you will develop software models that enable the exploration, validation, and optimization of next-generation graphics architectures before silicon is available. Working at the intersection of software and hardware, you will build and enhance C/C++ simulation models used to evaluate new features, analyze performance, and support key design decisions. You will collaborate closely with architecture, design, verification, firmware, and software engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges and contribute to innovative graphics and computing technologies.\n\nTHE PERSON:\n\nYou are a naturally curious engineer who enjoys understanding how things work beneath the surface and solving complex problems alongside others. You thrive in collaborative environments where software is used to model real-world hardware behavior, requiring both analytical thinking and attention to detail. You communicate effectively, embrace continuous learning, and take ownership of challenges from investigation through resolution. A passion for innovation, teamwork, and delivering high-quality results will help you succeed in this role.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nDevelop and maintain C/C++ simulation models used for architecture evaluation, performance analysis, and hardware verification.\nModel hardware behavior to support the design and validation of next-generation GPU technologies.\nDebug complex software issues and investigate discrepancies between simulation models and hardware implementations.\nCollaborate with architecture, design, verification, firmware, emulation, validation, and software engineering teams.\nAnalyze simulation results and provide feedback to improve product quality, functionality, and performance.\nSupport the development and integration of new features within existing simulation environments.\nContribute to large-scale software projects using modern development practices and version control systems.\nParticipate in technical discussions and help drive solutions for complex engineering challenges.\n\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:\n\nProven hands-on experience with object-oriented programming in C/C++.\nStrong software development, debugging, and problem-solving skills.\nExperience working in Linux or UNIX environments.\nGood understanding of computer organization and computer architecture concepts.\nFamiliarity with software development tools, debuggers, IDEs, and version control systems.\nExperience working with large-scale software codebases.\nExposure to hardware modeling, simulation, verification, or performance analysis.\nKnowledge of GPU, graphics, CPU, or related hardware architectures is preferred.\nExposure to firmware development or debugging is a plus.\nExperience with scripting languages such as Python is beneficial.\n\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\n\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.\n\nThis role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.\n\n#LI-LC3\n\n#LI-HYBRID\n\nQualifications:\n\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\n\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
