Offshore Blaster Painter Helper
DescriptionMain Purpose:To perform all painting and sandblasting helper job functions per contract / job specifications and quality assurance requirements / blasting and painting procedures and established International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and Quality Assurance (QA) / Quality Control (QC) program standards. This position is located Offshore in the Gulf of America, formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico.Essential FunctionsOperate painting and blasting equipment (pressure paint guns, pressure blasting nozzles/hoses, industrial air compressors etc.) safely and efficientlyPower tool cleaning and brush paintingClean and maintain all related painting and blasting equipment, including safety equipment (blasting hoods, air hoses, respirators etc.)Apply primer and paint coatings as required in a manner that will ensure quality and unnecessary wasteInspect, start and maintain equipment that delivers blast and regulates pressures that produce a safe and efficient environmentDetermine paint flow, viscosity and coating quality by performing a visual inspection or viscometersWeigh or measure chemicals, coating or paints before adding them to machinesDispose of hazardous waste appropriatelyPerform other related job duties as assigned, which may include riggingPull trigger and direct spray onto the work surface to apply prime or finish coatFollow company specifications and proceduresUse a respirator hood to paint structures, pipes and valvesUse a spray gun to paint all structures, pipes and valvesUse a blast hose to blast structures, pipes and valvesBlast beams, angle iron, shuts, valves and pipe to prepare items for paintingSpray primer coat, intermediate coat and final coatWear a protective hood when blasting structures and pipesWear a respirator when painting structures and pipesFollow MSDS on safety equipmentProtect against fumes and discoloration of the productPerform other duties assigned by supervisorBenefits OfferedEarned Wage AccessHealth, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k) with Company MatchPaid HolidaysPaid VacationLife InsuranceDisability InsuranceSafety AwardsCompany StoreEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)RequirementsPhysical Requirements:Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, talking, hearing and seeingTurning, twisting and bendingPushing, pulling and reachingMust be able to lift and /or move 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 poundsJob Requirements2+ years of experience blasting / paintingMust be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screenMust be able to pass background checks to company policyValid TWIC cardDesirable Experience, Education, And TrainingHighschool diploma or GEDTools, Equipment, And TechnologyIndividuals must know and use pressure paint guns, sandblasting hoses and nozzles, wet mill paint gauges, paint pots, air pressure compressors, protective blasting hoods and breathing respirators.Environmental Conditions80% to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors. Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud etc. They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes.Gulf Island will not sponsor applications for work visas.
