POSITION SUMMARY: The Managed Community Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledger (GL) and creating monthly financial statements to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information as part of the services provided by Health Dimensions Group (HDG) to its Managed Communities (MCs).ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:· Prepares and posts journal entries in the general ledgers of HDG’s managed communities used in the preparation of monthly financial statements.· Compiles and reconciles information from the general ledgers used in month-end schedules supporting the issued financial statements.· Prepares bank reconciliations and the necessary journal entries for the bank accounts of HDG’s managed communities.· Performs analytical review of financial statement accounts and research/resolve accounting issues as necessary.· Creates and issues monthly financial statements for HDG’s managed communities by the deadlines established and ensures that financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.· Reviews and verifies the coding of invoices prior to posting the accounts payable batches by the accounts payable staff to ensure proper posting of expenses.· Prepares work papers for yearly audits and work with external auditors.· Prepares financial information as necessary for Medicare and Medicaid cost report filings.· Prepares financial information as necessary for tax return filings as requested by outside tax accountants.· Prepares other financial reports and analyses as deemed necessary, such as, but not limited to: budget vs. actual comparisons, PPD expenses by department, payroll labor reports, bank compliance reporting, capital project tracking, and more.· Provides data input and analytical review of yearly budgets for HDG’s managed communities.· Files sales/use tax returns, as applicable, for HDG’s managed communities.· Develops good working relationships and communication with managed community staff.· Assists the CFO and Senior Director of Finance - Managed Communities in various other projects and analyses as necessary.· Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications:− Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and a minimum of one year work experience required.− Previous healthcare accounting experience, specifically with skilled nursing and/or assisted and independent living communities, preferred.
