Senior Accountant
A leading construction firm is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their growing team. The successful candidate will demonstrate accurate and timely preparation of month-end close and compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies and procedures. ResponsibilitiesOwn general ledger accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and the successful execution of month-end and year-end close processes Drive the preparation, analysis, and reconciliation of balance sheet schedules to ensure accuracy, integrity, and audit readiness Ensure full compliance with GAAP and enforce strong percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting practices, controls, and financial discipline Oversee job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition to ensure accurate project financials and compliance with accounting standards Deliver timely and actionable financial reporting, variance analysis, and management insights that support operational and strategic decision-making Lead and maintain accurate processing and reconciliation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash transactions Own audit and tax preparation activities by coordinating, organizing, and delivering required financial documentation and support Evaluate accounting workflows and internal controls, proactively identifying risks, control gaps, and process inefficiencies while driving corrective actions Champion effective utilization and optimization of ERP, job costing, and inventory systems to improve financial visibility and operational performance Drive continuous process improvements that enhance accuracy, scalability, efficiency, and transparency across accounting and financial operations Partner closely with Project Managers and Operations leaders to strengthen financial accountability, improve cost control, and ensure job cost accuracy across active projects Serve as a trusted financial partner to the business by providing insights, accountability, and proactive recommendations that improve operational and financial performanceQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required5+ years of accounting experience in progressive rolesDemonstrate experience in multi-business units; construction-related preferredStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and construction financial reportingAudit or internal audit experience preferredExperience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, Viewpoint) preferred
