We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented person to take over the day-to-day financial coordination of the firm.\nThis is a hands-on role as an integral member of our team. You’ll work closely with our outgoing controller during a structured transition, and then take the lead on these responsibilities. We’re a small, collegial office and value someone who approaches their work with care, clarity, and sound judgment, and who communicates openly as part of the team.\nResponsibilities:\n· Record all transactions across bank accounts, credit cards, and loans\n· Manage invoicing and bill payment\n· Process payroll and fund 401k contributions\n· Monitor the accounting inbox and respond as needed\n· File monthly and annual sales tax returns\n· Prepare 1099s\n· Prepare the annual workers’ comp audit\n· Collect W9s & worker comp certificates from subcontractors\n· Reimburse employee expenses\n· Prepare compensation package reports for employees\n· Onboard new employees to time tracking, payroll systems and benefits\n· Pay quarterly estimates\n· Attend a monthly meeting to review prior-month financials with firm leadership\n· Serve as the liaison with our CPA\n· Monitor all online accounts for fraud\nWhat we are looking for:\n· Experience in small-business accounting, ideally in a professional services context\n· Organized, self-directed, and precise\n· Minimum 3 years experience with QuickBooks Online\n· Someone who can work with a small team and doesn’t need a lot of hand-holding once oriented\nIt is a part-time staff position and we are flexible on hours. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
