Controls Engineer (Electrical Design Focus)Location: Georgia (Full - Onsite)Compensation:• Target base salary: $85,000K - $95,000K • Travel: 20–25% annuallyPosition Summary:We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing automation systems. This role is heavily focused on controls engineering design and requires experience developing electrical control systems, creating schematics, designing automation solutions, and supporting projects from concept through commissioning. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLC platforms, Studio 5000, electrical control system design, AutoCAD Electrical, and industrial automation within a manufacturing environment. This role requires a self-sufficient engineer who can execute controls and automation projects with minimal supervision while supporting manufacturing operations, continuous improvement initiatives, and Industry 4.0 advancements.Key Responsibilities:• Design and develop electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment and automated processes • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and control documentation using AutoCAD Electrical or similar software • Design control architectures, I/O layouts, and automation solutions for new and existing equipment • Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial control devices • Lead automation projects from concept and design through implementation, startup, and commissioning • Support Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing initiatives • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, engineering, and outside vendors to develop automation solutions • Analyze production data and identify opportunities for process optimization and automation improvements • Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and engineering best practices • Develop and maintain project documentation, standards, and engineering drawings • Provide technical support during equipment installation, startup, and system upgrades • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on reliability, efficiency, and manufacturing performance • Execute projects and responsibilities with minimal supervisionRequired Qualifications:• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline • 1–5+ years of industrial automation, controls engineering, automation design, or manufacturing controls experience • Experience designing electrical control systems and automation solutions from concept through implementation • Strong experience developing electrical schematics, panel layouts, and control system documentation • Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and Rockwell Studio 5000 • Experience with HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, industrial networking, and control system integration • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software • Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical schematics and technical drawings • Experience supporting automation projects from design through implementation, startup, and commissioning • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and project management skills • Demonstrated ability to work independently and execute projects with minimal supervisionPreferred Qualifications• Experience with Ignition, Python, SCADA systems, or other Industry 4.0 technologies • Experience supporting smart manufacturing initiatives, IIoT, or manufacturing data collection systems • Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience • Experience supporting capital equipment and automation projects in a manufacturing environmentBenefits & Perks:Competitive benefits package including Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance401(k) with Company MatchPaid Time Off (PTO) and Paid HolidaysLife Insurance and Disability CoverageTuition Reimbursement and Professional Development OpportunitiesEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Opportunity to work on high-impact automation and controls projects from design through commissioningExposure to Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing initiativesStable manufacturing environment with long-term growth potentialHigh visibility within the organization and direct impact on operational performance
