Parking Ambassador (Staff Wage)The University of Virginia's Department of Parking and Transportation is searching for reliable Parking Ambassadors. The Parking Ambassador performs a variety of tasks to assist the mission of Parking and Transportation in serving the University of Virginia Community. Duties include working in the field to serve as a customer service representative, help patrons pay for parking through the ParkMobile app, assist with special events as needed, direct traffic as part of strategic overflow control, and greet customers and assist with their needs. Additional duties include serving as parking enforcement officers, customer service representatives, and service crew technicians. Parking Ambassadors are jack-of-all-trades for front-line customer service. Parking and Transportation Parking Ambassadors are responsible for obtaining and maintaining a robust knowledge base, in order to address problems and provide information to customers appropriately and confidentially. Therefore, this position demands the ability to cross-train quickly, effectively, and efficiently. Given the varied physical demands of this position, including a majority of time spent standing, climbing stairs/ramps, and walking through parking facilities, the position is considered "physically demanding." Position Compensation: $15.00 hourly. This is a wage position (part time) which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year.
Required Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent
A valid driver's license with a zero or positive point balance is required.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Time management skills and the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
Must be detail oriented
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to efficiently and responsibly handle credit card operations through ParkMobile
Ability to obtain and maintain a robust knowledge base via cross training
Basic working knowledge of computers
Ability to learn parking resource management systems (ParkMobile, handheld devices for parking enforcement, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Degree or equivalent
At least one year of working experience
Previous customer service experience
Knowledge of best practices in garage operations
Detailed knowledge of the University of Virginia Grounds
Ability to keep and maintain accurate daily logs
Experience with PCI DSS compliance, MS Office Suite, T2 Flex, Digital IRIS
