Daily tasks will be focused on food preparation set up, and operation of a station at one of our various food outlets according to leadership's specifications. The cook position supports SpaceX's success by providing quality food options that boost morale and productivity.\r\nRESPONSIBILITIES\r\n\r\nSet up, work, and maintain a clean and safe work station\r\nComplete daily prep tasks\r\nHelp the team meet time and quality standards set by supervisor\r\nCook and plate completed dishes for service\r\nClean kitchen equipment and work/storage areas\r\n\r\nBASIC QUALIFICATIONS\r\n\r\nHigh school diploma or equivalency certificate\r\nCulinary degree or 2+ years of experience in the food service industry\r\n\r\nPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\r\n\r\nBasic knife skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment\r\nPossession of or willingness to obtain CA food handler card\r\nHigh level of professionalism\r\nExperience in a corporate environment\r\nStrong communication skills, both written and verbal\r\nBasic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook primarily)\r\nUnderstanding of standard kitchen hierarchy and roles\r\nUnderstanding of basic cooking methods including sauce making and meat and vegetable preparations\r\nSound understanding of food safety and sanitation practices\r\nWillingness to learn and take guidance from others\r\n\r\nADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS\r\n\r\nAbility to pass Air Force background check for Vandenberg Space Force Base\r\nAbility to work the following shift, overtime, and weekends as needed:\r\nDay Shift:\r\n\r\n5:00 AM - 3:00 PM, Monday-Friday\r\n\r\n\r\nAbility to carry large heavy items, such as dishes in tubs or trays unassisted (up to 25 lbs.)\r\n\r\nAbility to stand for long periods of time - up to 8 hours a day\r\nAbility to perform frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of objects\r\n\r\nCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS\r\nPay range\r\nCook/Level 1: $22.50/hour\r\nCook/Level 2: $24.50/hour\r\nCook/Level 3: $26.50/hour\r\nYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.\r\nBase salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.
