Electrical/Mechanical Design Lead

JOB SUMMARY: The Electrical/Mechanical Design Lead will use their CAD/PCB layout skills to work with Design Engineers and create documentation, design, and data input. They will lead project updating and work with the team to gather updates and report during weekly design meetings. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Mechanical design team leadership. Attend project meetings/update team on design status. Lead and mentor others using SolidWorks/modeling. Review design work before release. Collaborate cross-functionally. Use problem-solving and analytical skills while demonstrating understanding of engineering principles. Coordinate CAD team efforts within tight deadlines. Lead and improve the CAD design team skills and processes to meet manufacturing/design need. SolidWorks, 3+ years of experience. Create and revise mechanical product drawings from engineering change notices to keep track of product revisions; perform product layout activities using software tools to verify if parts will fit together or to help the engineer visualize their design; create illustrations of assembly methods used in manufacturing. Create 3D modeling and detailed prints. System Integration (i.e. multi-part layout). PDM knowledge. RF Layout/design. PCB layout/design. Maintain up-to-date computer information on engineering designs and processes. Work with Design Engineers to perform printed circuit layout, mechanical design, special tool design. Data Entry into AS400(KBM System). Process Engineering Change Notices through our database. Assist other work sites as directed by the CAD and Documentation Manager. Possess the mechanical aptitude and dexterity (“hands-on”) to evaluate in process products to understand tool use and installation techniques (DFM). QUALIFICATIONS: Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Expert in SolidWorks software. Familiarity with Inventor/AutoCAD. 2+ years of technical school training in mechanical drafting and design or related discipline AND/OR 3+ years of experience in an engineering design drafting related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Symbols creation/footprints in ORCAD. Experience using calipers, calculators, and drafting equipment. Attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Engineering Services Office in a multi-desk workspace.
