Caregiver
The Caregiver/Resident Aide is one key employee in our Residential Care Facility Community. This position has more contact with residents than any other. Staff in this position must provide the facility with a continuous stream of information on resident status needs and issues. Caregivers must be alert to changes in resident health, attitude and needs. They must be able to clearly and concisely transfer this information through the system to ensure proper action is taken. The caregiver must be able to provide the direct care needed to help residents maintain their highest level of independence. They serve as the lynch pin on the facility care team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ability to communicate with and relate well to elder population
Ability to work in confined spaces
Ability to carry trays of food
Knowledge of proper transfer procedures and body mechanics
Proper use of back belts, gate belts, transfer board and use of Hoyer lifts
Proper operation of regular vacuum
Proper operation of toilet plunger
General knowledge of oxygen tanks and equipment
Basic knowledge of documentation and record keeping procedures
Ability to read and interpret written procedures and directions
Ability to lift up to 65 lbs weight and carry 100 yards
Ability to lift, bend, stretch, squat, stand and other movements to perform general care giver functions and reach in confined spaces
Manual dexterity adequate for care procedures
Ability to transfer residents w/appropriate assistance (i.e., from bed to wheelchair or from wheelchair to toilet)
Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions and company policies
Basic computer knowledge
