This is a hands-on role for someone with a few years of relevant experience who wants to grow in platform engineering, cloud operations, observability, and developer experience.\n\nThis role is a good fit for someone who wants to grow beyond day-to-day platform support and into a broader platform engineering career. You’ll have exposure to both infrastructure and developer workflows, with a chance to make a real impact on cloud cost, platform reliability, and developer productivity.\n\nYou’ll partner closely with Infrastructure, Security, IT, and Spire’s software development teams to improve how our platform runs, how our developers ship software, and how efficiently we spend it on AWS.\n\nWhat you’ll do:\n\nLead analysis of AWS spend across both platform-owned infrastructure and developer team workloads\nIdentify cost optimization opportunities and help implement changes that reduce spend without sacrificing reliability or developer experience\nSupport migration of existing workloads onto our newest internal developer platform\nInvestigate, troubleshoot, and resolve platform issues raised by internal customers, primarily software developers and IT/Security engineers\nPerform regular maintenance, upgrades, and improvements across platform services and tooling\nHelp build and maintain code libraries, templates, and integrations that make it easier for application teams to instrument and observe their systems\nWork with platform observability and delivery tooling across:\nAWS EKS\nAWS networking (VPC, subnets, TGW, load balancers, routing) and security (Security Groups, NACLs)\nGitHub and GitHub Actions\nArgoCD\nJFrog Artifactory and X-Ray\nGrafana Enterprise, Alloy, Mimir, Tempo\nOpenSearch\nKarpenter\nCalico\nGatekeeper\nOpenCost\n\nWhat we’re looking for:\n\n2–3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or a similar role\nStrong experience with AWS and Kubernetes, especially EKS\nFamiliarity with GitOps workflows and CI/CD pipelines\nComfortable troubleshooting distributed systems and production issues\nWorking knowledge of observability tooling and concepts such as metrics, logs, traces, and alerting\nAbility to write code or libraries in one or more general-purpose languages to support developer workflows\nGood communication skills and a customer-focused mindset\nComfortable collaborating frequently with a variety of infrastructure, IT, security and application teams\n\nNice to have:\n\nExperience with cost optimization in AWS or Kubernetes environments\nExperience with ArgoCD or similar GitOps tools\nExperience with Grafana ecosystem tooling\nFamiliarity with policy and admission control tools like Gatekeeper\nExperience with Kubernetes networking or traffic policy tools like Calico\nExperience supporting internal developer platforms or platform product teams\nExperience with Open-Telemetry or application instrumentation patterns\nCertification as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Certified CloudOps Engineer is an asset\n\nSpire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three business days per week in the office.\n\nAccess to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be required for this role.
