Staff Accountant
Position Purpose
The Staff Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Staff Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. Staff Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department
Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
Provide technical support and advice on Management Accountant
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
Provide input into department's goal setting process
Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
Assist with tax audits and tax returns
Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
Support month-end and year-end close process.
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
Assists with month end close and board report preparation
Maintains the general ledger, including account reconciliations
Monitors Accounts Payable and Purchasing ensuring proper coding
Process direct deposit payments
Calculate and deposit payroll taxes
Process and issue annual W-2 forms to employees
Properly code payroll within the general ledger
Assists with payroll coding and recoding throughout the year
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
3+ years of accounting experience required
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software; experience with Abila, is preferred
Ability to accept assignments, follow procedures and work without constant supervision
Must have the ability to deal with people in a professional manner
Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
