The success of our company has created excellent career advancement opportunities that support a healthy work/life balance.\nPosition Summary:\nThe Certified Coder abstracts clinical information from a variety of medical records, charts and documents and assigns appropriate ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes to patient records according to established procedures. Works with coding databases and confirms DRG assignments. Inputs and maintains data on procedures required for state or other reporting.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nCodes Anesthesia charge tickets.\nReviews CPT, ICD-10, ASA and HCPCS coding on charge tickets.\nReviews anesthesia records for supporting documentation for charge tickets.\nReviews medical records for supporting documentation for charge tickets.\nMay require sending back to the providers for additional information.\nReview all incomplete or inaccurate charge tickets that are sent back from the billers for additional information and make necessary corrections.\nIdentify cosmetic and/or prepaid cases and ensure two tickets are created, one for insurance and one for patient responsibility.\nDeliver coded charts to assigned box for delivery to billing department.\nAssist Billing and AR Department as needed.\nCommunicates issues and questions to management when appropriate.\nMaintains strictest confidentiality.\nAdhere to all company policies and procedures.\nAdherence to and compliance with information systems security is everyone’s responsibility. It is the responsibility of every computer user to: Know and follow Information Systems security policies and procedures. Attend Information Systems security training, when offered. Report information systems security problems.\nPerform other duties as assigned\nMinimum Qualifications:\nHigh School graduate or equivalent.\nCCS- P or CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification from AAPC or AHIMA\nExperience:\nMinimum of 2 years coding experience in a healthcare business office is preferred.\nAnesthesia Coding preferred but not required.\nKnowledge and Skills:\nKnowledge of CPT, ICD-10, ASA and HCPCS coding.\nBackground in Medical Terminology required.\nBackground in Anatomy and Physiology preferred, but not required.\nKnowledge of organization policies, procedures and systems.\nSkill in computer applications including MS Word, MS Excel.\nSkill in verbal and written communication.\nSkill in gathering and reporting information.\nAbility to work effectively with staff.\nMust have a pleasant disposition and be a team player.\nAbility to work independently with limited supervision.\nMust report to work consistently on time, and for the expected duration for all scheduled shifts.\nPlease Note: The position pay range analysis is for the company to take into consideration and is intended to be an aid to help make competitive offers while ensuring internal equity.
