Data Flow Engineer

Pointer Technologies is seeking a talented Data Flow and ETL Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes. You will play a critical role in transforming raw data into actionable insights by ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility.The ideal candidate has a strong background in data engineering, a passion for optimization, and a commitment to delivering scalable and reliable data solutions. This person is diligent, works well with others, inspired to learn, driven by mission and practices effective communication.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL workflows to support analytics and mission operationsBuild systems to collect, process, and store structured and unstructured data from various sourcesCollaborate with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to understand data needs and ensure smooth data deliveryOptimize data flows for performance, scalability, and reliabilityMonitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance, resolving issues promptlyEnsure data quality and integrity through robust validation and error-handling mechanismsStay up-to-date with the latest ETL tools, data integration techniques, and best practicesRequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related fieldProficiency in ETL tools such as Apache NiFiStrong programming skills in Python, Java, or ScalaExperience with SQL and working with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server)Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data servicesSolid understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data warehousing conceptsNice To HaveExperience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka)Knowledge of streaming data platforms such as Apache Flink or AWS KinesisHands-on experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BIFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) for automating data pipeline deploymentsClearanceTS/SCI clearance with polygraph requiredAbout UsPointer Technologies is Mission Forward and Employee Owned.We leverage talented engineers and effective technologies to drive success in our nation’s National Security and Intelligence missions.
