We are seeking a passionate and skilled Game Design & Coding Instructor to lead a 3-week summer course for high school students. This program aims to introduce students to foundational game design and coding concepts while fostering creativity and computational thinking. The ideal candidate will have experience in game development and/or coding and a genuine passion for working with youth.\nKey Responsibilities:\nTeach foundational game design and coding skills (game mechanics, programming logic, design principles, and playtesting)\nGuide students through individual or group game projects from concept to completion\nFoster a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment\nEncourage creativity and critical thinking through hands-on game building\nAssist students with project development, including brainstorming and presentation skills\nProvide constructive feedback and mentorship\nSupport students in preparing for the STEM Showcase on July 25, 2026\nQualifications:\nBachelor's degree (STEM or creative technology field preferred — Computer Science, Game Design, Software Engineering, Digital Media, or related, but other disciplines welcome to apply)\nProven experience in game design, game development, and/or coding\nPrevious experience teaching or mentoring high school students is highly desirable\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\nStrong organizational skills and the ability to adapt lessons to diverse interests\nCommitment to empowering young women in STEM\nPreferred Skills:\nGame design/development: 1+ year (Preferred)\nFamiliarity with game engines or coding platforms (e.g., Scratch, Unity, Godot, Python, GameMaker, or similar)\nCreative approach to integrating storytelling and design with coding\nAbility to inspire and motivate students from diverse backgrounds\nImportant Details & Expectations:\nSummer Location: Instruction will be held at Miami Dade College Eduardo Padrón Campus (must be able to commute to the location/have reliable transportation).\nCompensation/Time Commitment: $30–$35/hr. The exact rate will depend on level of education and experience. There may be a few paid workshops, team trainings, and meetings throughout the summer. For the summer program (July 6–July 24, 2026): Instructor should be available Mon–Thurs from 12:30–2:00 PM, plus July 24 (final class) and July 25 (STEM Showcase).\nIf selected, you must be able to show proof of education/experience via academic transcripts/certifications, work experience, and/or reference checks.\nStart Date: July 6, 2026.
