We encourage educators who enjoy mentoring and coaching and are excited to share and nurture best practices in teaching and learning to apply.\nThe field supervisor’s role will be to encourage, coach, support, and provide timely and relevant feedback to teacher candidates to improve their teaching decisions and practices within TU’s educator preparation journey. The field supervisor will work with TU’s Leadership Team on achieving the program’s goals related to increasing teacher candidate performance, ensuring they are prepared to meet the diverse needs of students across the state.\nThere are immediate needs in Texarkana, Austin, and Waco, and applicants in rural areas of Texas are encouraged to apply.\nPosition Activities:\n· Hold a current teaching certificate in the state of Texas with at least 3 years of experience in the certification area of the supervised teaching assignment\n· Have experience in instructional coaching or mentoring novice teachers\n· Have a flexible schedule with the ability to commute regionally\n· Be comfortable meeting with candidates via video-chat platform or phone call\n· Attend an onboarding training offered by the Director of Clinical Practice\n· Conduct virtual and face-to-face observation cycles (i.e., pre-conference, observation, and post-conference)\n· Provide timely and constructive feedback that is aligned to the instructional practice rubric for each classroom observations\n· Collaborate with mentor/cooperating teachers at clinical placements\n· Respond to candidates’ inquiries within 48 hours\n· Maintain accurate data and observe data entry timelines for all teacher candidates\n· Serve as a representative of TU - displaying professionalism, integrity, courtesy, tact, consideration, and confidentiality in all interactions with other members of the educational community and the public\n· Have technology and proficient skills to communicate with and support candidate observation cycles (e.g., computer, email, appropriate internet service, webcam)\nNOTE: In accordance with TAC 228.2(18), a field supervisor shall not be employed by the same school where the candidate being supervised is completing their clinical teaching or internship.\nPreferred Qualifications\n· Advanced degree in the certificate area in which they will supervise\n· T-TESS certified\n· Certificate of Completion for the TEA-Approved Field Supervisor Training\n*This position is part-time.
